Healthy Lakes and Rivers
Program Training
Soon after celebrating the
group's first anniversary, the Friends of the Sauk
River participated in the Healthy Lakes and Rivers
program training. Members Mitch Bender, Kurt Franke,
Coralee Fox, Sarah Sewell, Joe Storlien and Abbi
Wittman worked with other participants to develop
leadership and management skills to assist the
fledgling river group.
The Group Takes Off
By November 2005, the Friends
of the Sauk River had drafted by-laws and articles
of incorporation, became an incorporated
organization, held elections for an interim Board of
Directors, began planning a community visioning
session and drafted a river management plan. Not bad
for a bunch of otherwise busy people.
